The aroma filled the apartment,
enveloping me like a warm blanket
It was so inviting, so comforting
Every morning my partner created
gourmet pancakes, knowing they
were my most favorite of treats
As time went by, our healthy
food fanatic friends began
voicing strong culinary advice
The former glorious pancakes
were shunned like fast food fries
Too many carbs, too fattening,
no protein, and, OMG, gluten
Our crowd had fun mocking me,
their snobby noses lost in lovage
How could I so mistreat my body,
the sacred tomb of my soul?
Think of high cholesterol, of
the unappealing middle bulge
One dared to declare my eating
habits would send me to hell
Well, that’s too damn bad
I’ll gaily stick with my old classic
Outliving them all by enjoying
my socially unacceptable Pancakes!
