You’ve probably heard by now that Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda Hobbes on Sex and the City, is running for governor of the state of New York and I’m voting for her. Well, maybe you hadn’t heard that I’m voting for her but you should’ve assumed. What’s her platform? Who cares! All I know is Miranda would make a great governor so Cynthia’s got my vote. Who else would I vote for simply because of a character they played on TV once?

1. Amy Poehler
   She played Leslie Knope, an actual politician, on Parks and Recreation. I’m not sure if Leslie was any good at her job but she was enthusiastic and that’s good enough for me.
2. Christine Baranski
   Diane Lockhart is my ideal presidential candidate, mostly because I love a statement necklace.
3. Kerry Washington
   Scandal’s Olivia Pope would be a shady, untrustworthy politician, but aren’t they all?
4. Sandra Oh
   Christina Yang for president!
5. Julia Louis-Dreyfus
   She plays the bumbling, conniving former President (for like a month) Selina Meyer on Veep, but that’s not why I’d vote for her. I’d vote for her because Elaine Benes would make a shrewd city comptroller.
6. Sarah Paulson
   If she can play Marcia Clark, she can do anything.
7. Susan Kelechi Watson
   Not only is Beth Pearson the only character on This Is Us who’s not a complete disaster and/or a fucking idiot, she’s great!
8. Mindy Kaling
   The Office’s Kelly Kapoor is an untrustworthy buffoon, but she’s got my vote.
9. Lena Dunham
   True, Girls’ Hannah Horvath is a monster, but I’d vote for her.
10. Martin Sheen
    I wouldn’t vote for him. Sure, he played unrealistically altruistic president Josiah Bartlet on The West Wing, but do you honestly think I’m going to blindly trust a man just because he was on TV? Yeah right!
